Negar Hassanzadeh is an Iranian actress, filmmaker, and screenwriter based in Los Angeles. With a multidisciplinary background in photography, performance, and film, Negar brings a uniquely visual and emotionally rich perspective to her storytelling.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in photography and is currently pursuing her MFA in Film Directing at the renowned California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), where she is further developing her voice as an auteur.
Born and raised in Iran, Negar began her artistic journey through photography, which laid the foundation for her cinematic sensibility.
Her work is deeply influenced by themes of displacement, identity, gender, and the nuanced emotional landscapes of everyday life. As an actress, she has performed in a wide range of projects, including television series, feature films, short films, and stage productions, both in Iran and internationally.

Her most recent short film, Lunge, which she wrote and directed, has received international recognition for its poignant storytelling and distinctive visual style. Lunge has been officially selected by several prestigious film festivals, including the Early Bird Student International Film Festival and the Red Sea International Film Festival.
It has also received multiple accolades, including awards at the Liberec Sport Film Festival in the Czech Republic and the Matera Sport Film Festival in Italy. Additionally, Negar was honored with an appreciation letter from the Newport Beach Film Festival in recognition of her film’s impact.
Negar continues to create work that bridges her Iranian heritage with a global cinematic language, exploring universal human experiences through a personal lens. Whether behind the camera or in front of it, she is committed to telling stories that are intimate, poetic, and socially resonant.
